I’m telling stories that have no plot, no narrative, but they don’t come from nowhere, that would be impossible, nor are they clever, which would be possible but incredibly boring The stories are vicious and tender, unpretentious, rebellious and vulnerable, passionately emotional and unconcerned about translation, creating a rough edge between fiction and no-fiction, sense and no-sense, between the theatrical and the performative: a deliberate crafting that makes the stories enticing, curious, at times confounding, like bits of broken mirror.

SPEAK ENGLISH MOTHERFUCKER is a 70-minute solo based on movement, performance, new dramaturgies, experimental dance, experimental soundscapes, and improvisation.

Vanessa Kamp. I am an artist from the US based in Barcelona trained in fine arts and fiber art, and later linguistics and movement. I approach dance and theater from a performance perspective and draw from many disciplines and vocabularies to construct critical meanings around feminism, capitalism, power: textiles and rhizomatic thinking, improvisation, sculpture, writing, craft, sport, poetry, phenomenology. Just as my work often moves from object to action, to still photograph, to manipulated video, physical engagement with materials and processes is the starting point.
