Deixar de prendre 4 pastilles
The book commemorating Antic Teatre’s Community Arts Project with residents of the Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i La Ribera neighbourhood is now on sale.
The book commemorating 10 years of Antic Teatre’s Community Arts Project is now on sale. Published by Neret edicions, this narrative report provides a compendium of the many voices that have formed the project and contributed to its growth since it first began, in the autumn of 2011, to the present. Copies can be purchased on the Neret edicions webpage and at On The Road bookshop.
The book compiles the voices of the professionals involved in the project, reviews from the theatrical and arts press, and various academic studies. On a more personal and biographical level, there is also a choral text drawn from the oral and written accounts of the participants themselves, where they explain, in their own words, their experiences in the group. Because it’s precisely their stories, their memories and their capacity to create beauty that drive the dramatic and performative aspect of the project.
“Deixar de prendre 4 pastilles” tells the story of a social project conceived and developed in a professional performance creation and production venue, Antic Teatre. And it’s a shining example of good praxis in the field of performance arts applied to social change and focused on the democratisation of artistic and cultural practice. The positive impact the project has had on the lives of the participants is manifest in the improvement in their wellbeing, the reinforcement of community ties and the creation of artistic and cultural spaces in which they feel represented.
Part of Antic’s ideology is to support every person’s right to access and participate in culture and to address the need for active measures to counteract inequalities in this area within communities. Antic Teatre’s Community Arts Project is a clear example of how this philosophy continues to live, breathe and celebrate anniversaries.
