With SEXANGEL, I continue to investigate the body as spectacle. In this case, I am interested in developing studio material for a solo that responds through the body, the voice and the text, to how sex is related – or not – to my aesthetic fantasy of the contemporary figure.

Søren Evinson studied at the Institut del Teatre of Barcelona and completed his MA studies in performance at the University of London, obtaining a Distinction. He lived in London for 6 years where he developed his practice collaborating with artists such as Oreet Ashery, Karen Christopher, Charlie Hope, and Alicia Radage. Some of his works as a creator are: Homage to the Idiot (2014), a piece in collaboration with a mentally disabled performer, co-produced by Kulturfabrik, Luxembourg, Antic Teatre Barcelona and Liminal Gr; Hello World! (2015), a performance that transfigures notions of privacy with a soundtrack extracted from the capture of mobile signals from the public; and Atoeweftr (2016), a performative and immersive installation in which ideas of nature and artificiality converge.

A Nation is born in me, his first solo, premiered at the TNT Festival in Terrassa and has been presented at Antic Teatre in Barcelona, the National Dance Center (CN D, Paris), Festival GREC Barcelona, Next Festival (France-Belgium) and at the Teatre Principal d’Olot. Søren Evinson is currently a nominee in the category of best performer for the DANSACAT awards given by the Association of Dance Professionals of Catalonia (APdC).
