A Placer is a half-lit space with background music. A Placer is doing whatever we feel like doing, whatever appeals to us; being Nick Cave for a few hours, conversing at ground level, dissolving ourselves in kisses and transforming memories… A Placer is punching Donald Trump, a timely aftershock and a lazy afternoon.
David Franch and Arantza López met in 2011 at creation space L’Animal a l’esquena, working on a video creation project. Common interests in performance creation coupled with completely different trajectories meant they discovered a lot of points in common, bringing them to work together under the name Labuena Compañia.
They created their first performance piece, Osos en el agua, in 2013 with collaboration from OSIC (the Generalitat de Catalunya’s Department of Culture). They obtained residencies at Azala Kreazio Espazioa (Vitoria), Can Felipa Civic Centre and Antic Teatre. The piece premiered in 2014 as part of the 5th edition of the El meu veí fa performance cycle in Barcelona. This show was selected by the Alternative Theatre Network and toured Spain during the 2015/2016 season.
They are currently showing performance piece La dona del sac as part of the 5th edition of dance festival IN SITU at Arts Santa Mónica in Barcelona. La dona del sac also features performer Vanessa Farré. The piece will also be presented at the Sismògraf Festival in Olot.
