Yo quiero mirar por el cráter de un volcán cuando esté a punto de estallar; is a reflection on volcanic and human processes. Navigating using visuals and narrative centred in the latency of events, desire and tension, volcanoes become the guiding axis for a wide and subjective reflection. In an immersive space, using lights, music and voiceovers, we are guided towards our own inner world.
Javiera Gazitua Charnes was born in Italy and moved to Chile aged 12, where she lived until she was 20, at which point she returned to Europe and settled in Madrid where she continued her acting studies. A year later she arrived in Barcelona where she studied Gesture at the Institut del Teatre in Terrassa, while simultaneously training as a therapist specialising in psychic trauma; she has worked for over 15 years for several NGOs on the subject of violence. At the end of her training she started her own company, commencing a career as dramaturg and creator. In her search for new performance languages she drew closer to contemporary art, developing a line of research that connects light, shadow and space, and the interaction of various disciplines such as art, science and psychology. She has worked as director, dramaturg, producer and actress and has created her own visual language for a range of immersive shows, among which Azul, Contemplo and Miope. All her work has been supported by different institutions, such as the Generalitat Grant for Artistic Research and Experimentation, the IF Festival and the Crearte Festival (Chile), among others, and has toured countries including Chile, Spain and Belgium. As an actor she has collaborated and continues to collaborate with several companies, as well as voicing most of Isabel Allende’s novels, and directing actors in the world of the audiobook.
