In September 2022 we celebrated the 11th anniversary of Y por qué John Cage? at Antic Teatre. The experience was so magical that we’re coming home once more, still buzzing, to share this much-loved piece with you.
This was our first work together; it led us to discover our own language and way of performing, and also showed us what we could bring to the world of live arts. It’s a very simple piece, where two characters, Guillem and Jorge, hold a conversation discussing what to do, how to manage the creative process. The words they use become sounds and, based on the rhythm and musicality that these inevitably produce, the actors try and establish the rules of a game in which the audience end up totally immersed.

Jorge and Guillem’s paths crossed for the first time on a summer’s night in Barcelona. Guillem asked Jorge for a light, which was given. A month after meeting they were living together, and a few months later they began to collaborate creating shows as a team, as well as with other artists, the first few years in Amsterdam and then in Barcelona. Their first works, such as YPQJC? and #LOS MICRÓFONOS speak about language and conventions; the later pieces, such as El Movimiento or Las cosas del amor, try and establish relativities to cover deeper topics. Now neither of them smokes, but they’ve been taking care of that light for 15 years with a lot of hard work and much love.
