Post-Halloween blues? We’ve got the cure!

On November 28th, 29th, and 30th, the ANTIC HORROR WEEKEND returns — the Fantastic and Horror Short Film Festival of the ANTIC TEATRE, celebrating its 15th edition this year.

In addition to our usual screenings — Official Competition Section, Antic Horror Kids, and Ocurrió Cerca de tu casa — this year we’re introducing Malsons Animats, matinee animation sessions for adults, and Hole of Shame Walk-In, a free open-air screening of infamous cinema at the legendary Forat de la Vergonya.

You’ll also find our Graveyard Market on the Antic’s terrace.

Join us for a fright-filled weekend of fun!

This year, the winners of the Jury Award and the Audience Award, in addition to receiving the “Nena d’Or” and “Nena de Plata”, trophies — created by @diositotoys — and cash prizes of €500 and €300, will also be awarded a DCP conversion of their short films, thanks to our friends at DCPReady.

If the winners already have a DCP, another of their works without one — or one currently in production — will be converted instead.

JURY OF THE 15TH ANTIC TEATRE FANTASTIC AND HORROR SHORT FILM FESTIVAL

SERGI VIZCAINO

Sergi Vizcaíno left his career as a tennis coach in 2002 to fully devote himself to filmmaking. After training in audiovisual creation, he directed numerous short films that received recognition at national and international festivals. In 2011, he made his feature film debut with XP3D, the first 3D horror movie produced in Spain, in collaboration with Sony and Rodar y Rodar.

Since then, he has expanded his creative work into theatre, teaching, and especially the development and writing of video games, where he merges cinematic storytelling with immersive technologies such as virtual reality. With over 15 years of experience teaching film and narrative design at prestigious institutions, he continues to explore new forms of interactive storytelling and to develop innovative projects for PC, consoles, and emerging platforms.

JORDI ROMERO

Jordi Romero Oya has been neck-deep in the audiovisual world for over 25 years: he’s made short films, features, documentaries, and just about anything that’s come his way — with a clear soft spot for the fantastic… and for comedy. In 2012, his short film Zona de Caza won the Paul Naschy Award at the Sitges Film Festival, and he hasn’t stopped since. His most recent work, Siluro, la bestia del Ebro, has screened at more than 45 international festivals and received accolades such as the Special Bizarre Mention at Caostica.

In 2018, he premiered his first feature film, The Waiter, which began as a web series and went on to be screened at the Sitges Film Festival, later released on Filmin and in a physical edition by El SetantaNou. He is currently working on Retratos Eternos, a gothic short film inspired by classic and 1980s horror cinema.

JAVIER PUEYO

Javier Pueyo Madroñero is passionate about the documentary genre. He first delved into it by directing the short film Diari íntim d’una actriu (2014), about the career of Montserrat Prous, one of Jesús Franco’s muses. Between 2018 and 2019, he worked as a screenwriter for Fila IB3, a film-related TV program broadcast on IB3 Televisió. In 2020, together with Valentine Iconaru, he founded the audiovisual label Filament Produccions, through which they have created, among other works, the TV programme La nit de les ànimes (2020) for IB3 Televisió, content for film distributors such as Severin Films and Mondo Macabro, and the documentary El cineasta amagat (2022), premiered at the Sitges Film Festival and focused on the figure of Mallorcan filmmaker Antoni Aloy.

Alongside his work as a director, he writes about cinema for various media outlets such as the website La Abadía de Berzano and the fanzine El Buque Maldito. He has also contributed to several collective books, including Zombie Films: Vol. 1. Europa (2011, Dolmen Editorial) and Paul Naschy/Jacinto Molina: La dualidad de un mito (Vial Books, 2017). He is also the author of Lucio Fulci: Autopsy of a Filmmaker, an essay on the Roman director first published by Tyrannosaurus Books and later reissued in an expanded edition in 2021 by Applehead Team.
