PAPY is a very contemporary buffoon and circus solo. The project is born of social concerns, political contradictions, impotence, anger and a woman giving shape to an allegorical set and body in an effusion of space-time.
Combining the records of performance and narrative, PAPY tends towards a symbolic, metamorphic and organic revolution, inviting the audience on a poetic-political journey towards dignity.
Lucha Emilia. Born and raised in Santiago de Chile, Emilia trained as a circus artist and clown/buffoon. She developed her career and training as an artist in Chile, Argentina, Brazil and mainly France at the circus school of Toulouse Le Lido and at the clown training at CNAC (Châlons-en-Champagne). She has participated with stage experimentation collective Collettivo Terzo Livello, and the companies London bitches, Choka-Choka and Compagnie OFF. Since 2020 she has continued to develop her career between France, Chile and Spain through the creation of a theatre show, PAPY, a buffoon and circus solo that premiered in 2022. Her investigations around the buffoon, the character and its deconstruction, the play between poetry and provocation are the axes of her artistic and performance lines, inviting debate and reflection from a definitely feminist viewpoint. At the same time she continues her development as a teacher of circus workshops and animator of creative laboratories and, in the last year, as a mother.
