Opus is a sculptural work in movement that focuses on what is essentially “feminine”. It is presented as an image, as an icon of femininity. It is a work to be looked at. A pedestal that focuses the gaze. A work that insists on its own existence. A work to inspire thought. But above all, it is beauty to reflect on.

La Taimada twork with the body, dance and movement around the concept of beauty and human fragility, offering the spectator a – probably uncomfortable – position as voyeur. Their pieces display intimacy, fragility, tenderness and also the cruelty of human actions. They are works that challenge the viewer, generating dilemmas, internal ethics and independent thought. The company was founded in 2004 from a solo by Olga Álvarez inspired by the work La Taimada by the painter Egon Schiele. In 2015 it was reformulated in a stage of co-creation and co-direction between Olga Álvarez (Performing Arts) and Jordi Cabestany (Visual Arts) provoking a new approach to the gaze, the image and the internal movement of bodies. Since 2013 they have created Crash (Fid IPAM Festival Grec 2013 and Red Escena Recommendation 2017), El Octavo Día, La Mort (Creation in residence at the CND in Madrid 2014), Lo.li.ta (Piece selected by the Balla’m un Llibre 2016 and the Quinzena Metropolitana 2018), Oblea (DanseuFestival 2019) and Filia et Fobia (1st Prize at the Madrid Choreographic Contest 2020 and premiere in Danza Valencia as part of Red a Escena 2021). They are currently working on a trilogy, El Jardí (The Garden), inspired by Hieronymus Bosch’s The Garden of Delights. During 2020-2021, Infierno was created as part of the Aliansat programme, with the collaboration of Fabra i Coats, El Graner and the Teatro Municipal de Terrassa, subsidised by the ICEC – Generalitat de Catalunya Department of Culture. In 2022 they became a resident company in El Graner to create El Jardí, the second piece of the Trilogy. In October 2023, after a collaboration with the Teatro El Canal de Salt, El Jardín was released in coproduction with the Mercat de les Flors (Barcelona) with financial support from OSIC –Generalitat de Catalunya Department of Culture. El jardí was the winner of the Dansacat Awards for Best Stage Space and Best Lighting Design, and was nominated for the TeatreBarcelona Awards for Best Hybrid Stage Show.
