Once upon a time there was a plastic body. Maybe 2, maybe 10, maybe 100… Or maybe 101!
Once upon a time there were a lot of little cyborgs that brightened the lives of little girls, allowing them to imagine all the possible worlds, places, and moments that those inanimate creatures could materialise and experience.
There’s Morgana. And there are the Barbies: my friends, my doubles, my audience, my enemies, my superpowers, my bullets..
There’s Franchina, the automated car… And, obviously, there’s Ken.
An invitation to imitate what surrounds us, to take on external inputs for self-creation.
This is a collective show, which speaks to and involves everyone, taking and giving something. An invitation to do whatever we want with ourselves and our bodies!
Morgana was born in Bologna in 1995 with a twin sister, and a childhood as an avid Barbie player. After ‘a lifetime’ of rhythmic gymnastics, secondary education and a degree in Psychology at Alma Mater Studiorum, she discovered contemporary circus. She attended the FLIC School of Circus in Turin from 2017 to 2020, then continued studying clown, contortion and contemporary dance and obtained a master’s degree in Neuro Psychosomatics at Villaggio Globale at Bagni di Lucca. In 2022, she co-founded the circus and street theatre company Le Vamp and finally returned to playing with Barbies, becoming Miss SBarbie! Morgana is now five-and-a-half Barbies tall and weighs 211 Barbies.
