La Sisena [o la democratització del Messies en un miracle i tres actes] is a performative essay on the cult of the image, auras and the construction of icons. Using the sixth station of the Cross, where Veronica cleans Jesus’ face with a cloth (on which a perfect and attractive face is ‘miraculously’ printed), as a starting point, LALTRE dissects and questions the myth and reflects on relics, the monetisation of art and the creation of leaders. A visual, sound and post-dramatic exploration on why we need and venerate images.
LALTRE is a collective led by Antonio Cortijo and Gerard Sancho, whose creations have plasticity and post-dramatic performance as their central axis. Notable among their works are La Sisena, Black, És aquesta pluja and a residency at the Muxart-Espai de creació, followed by participation in the Valencia Biennale with their installation Fiesta paraíso (2021) at the CCC Octubre. Also of note is their residence and subsequent site-specific performance at Can Serrat. Currently they are one of the resident companies at CC Can Felipa.
