* HIT ME IF I’M PRETTY * o la princesa moderna is an encounter forming the second part of the trilogy UNA NOVA CONSTITUCIÓ –hipòtesis i imatges en femení– (the first part is # JUANA DOLORES # * massa diva per a un moviment assembleari *). Based on one of the earliest works in modern philosophy, Machiavelli’s The Prince from the 16th century, and Gramsci’s The Modern Prince, I regender the prince into a national, popular princess, both loved and feared, who, after being humiliated and raped returns to her castle where she proclaims and defends the sovereignty of the object of desire from a feminist offensive.
Juana Dolores. I’m a writer. Also an actress, dramaturg and theatrical director. And a video artist. My work stems from the tensions existing between ideology and beauty. My published works are Bijuteria (winner of the 56th edition of Catalan poetry award Amadeu Oller, 2020, Edicions Galerada) and I SI UNA NACIÓ DESFILANT PER UNA CATIFA VERMELLA – rèquiem català- (2023, Edicions Poncianes). For the stage, I wrote, directed and performed # JUANA DOLORES # * massa diva per a un movimentassembleari (2019-2020) y * HIT ME IF I’M PRETTY * o la princesa moderna (2022). Having worked exclusively with archive images in LIMPIEZA (2020) and SANTA BÁRBARA (2020), MISS UNIVERSO (2021) was my first cinematographic audiovisual piece.
