How would a future AI reinterpret human traditions and myths in a world where humans no longer exist? Ghost in the Machine is a ritualistic future space of boundless imagination. The piece speculates on humanity’s spiritual heritage through the lens of post-sapiens intelligence, weaving a narrative that uses puppetry, illustration, video and technology. Objects, electronic artifacts, sculptures, mechanised forms, sound, light and video projections create a solemn atmosphere in which rituals, familiar yet strangely distorted, are celebrated.
A live cinema performance taking the viewer on a journey into a future where ancient traditions meet cutting-edge sci-fi technology.
Karla Kracht builds retro-futurist worlds using handmade objects, live cameras and circuit boards. Based in Barcelona, she trained in Germany, the UK and Spain. Her performances and installations are dark rooms where small film sets, motorised figures with glowing LED eyes, and live-camera feeds collapse into a single cinematic space, a collision of theatre, projection, video art, and live performance into one continuous present. All elements are built by herself. She spends long periods in Taiwan, South Korea, Bolivia, and Chile, and the rituals, crafts, and cosmologies she encounters there shape her practice significantly. Her award-winning work has been presented at the Guggenheim Bilbao and Taipei Puppetry Art Center, among many others.
