SOTABOSC is a documentary series about the Males Herbes publishing house universe. Each chapter is dedicated to a different writer or artist who loses themself in the forests of Les Guilleries and tells of their obsessions, their ambitions and their views of the world. We’ve had enough of hearing writers selling us their books; we’d like to know their opinions on humanity’s major themes, and also what worries them, what inspires them and what makes them laugh.
This presentation at Antic Teatre will cover the first season of the series that will be broadcast weekly on the Males Herbes YouTube channel starting on January 4, 2022. The featured artists and writers are Pau Riba, Elisabet Riera, Max Besora, Elena Bartomeu, Ferran Garcia, Elisenda Solsona and Roger Pelàez. Audiovisual production by Comptagotes.
The event kicks off with a discussion with the series’ creators, where they explain how the concept emerged, what ideas lie behind it and what the project hopes to achieve. (25 minutes)
Following this, 3 15-minute chapters from the first SOTABOSC season will be screened. (45 minutes)
The Males Herbes publishing house was established in 2012 in order to continue the work begun by Males Herbes fanzine. The idea was to tackle a neglected area of Catalan literature that includes all non-realist literature from science fiction to experimental prose, from horror to surrealism, satire or comics, with the aim of strengthening a counterculture expressed in Catalan.
