Pere and Sònia, trained in music and dance and deeply connected to popular traditions, have come together again to share with us a common reality: the precarity and contradictions inherent to making a living from traditional culture. AUTOODI transforms this conflict into a liberating dialogue that celebrates our roots while questioning how we instrumentalise and undervalue them. A piece that opens up questions about identity and belonging in a globalised society.
L’Esbord is a platform that uses the language of dance rooted in tradition as its primary means of contemporary expression. The company was founded in 2022 and premiered with the street piece L’HEREU RIERA (2022), co-produced with the Obrador d’Arrel of Fira Mediterrània de Manresa. The following year their second production, AUTOODI (2023), was presented at the GREC Festival in Barcelona, in a performative and hybrid format. A few months later, L’Esbord received the Delfí Colomé Award and presented its first stage production, FOLK AS QUEER (2024), co-produced with Mercat de les Flors, Fira Mediterrània, and the festivals Dansa Metropolitana, ÉsDansa, and Dansàneu, among others.
