El Desplume! gives us back the magical madness of Barcelona’s most disreputable cabarets. This season, in addition, with a dramatic change: after thirteen years officiating as emcees, Víctor Guerrero and his alter ego Tony Arroyo bow out giving way to Kyra Shimai, another legendary figure from Barcelona’s night-life district Paral·lel who will continue to fill the nights at Antic Teatre with fun, luxury and glamour, accompanied, as always, by music-hall’s most famous artistes.
Kyra Shimai –with alter ego Xavi Morán– is a multitalented artist who, having started out in figure skating, by the end of the 80s had seen her career as a dancer kick off in the various theatres of Barcelona’s Paral·lel. One of these was the Teatre Arnau, where she worked with Lita Claver, “La Maña”. At the same time she formed Kosmic Cabaret, an ensemble that performed to great acclaim in a range of theatres and cities, and even toured as part of Moncho Borrajo’s show. Xavi Morán had a lead role in the musical The Rocky Horror Show, was a regular performer at Sala Belle Epoque and went on to become a solo artist with his own show on Flash TV (El Molino). He directed Barcelona’s PRIDE for several years, during which time he formed a duo with Sharon known as Las Shimai. He still performs in Barcelona and is currently emcee for Sala Aquarella.
