On the occasion of the 25th Jaume Fuster Award for Catalan Language Writers, the Association of Catalan Language Writers is organising three separate activities across the Catalan-speaking territories in celebration of the award and to support diffusion of the poet’s work.
The date for the Barcelona event is June 10 at 7pm, and will be a recital by the poet Enric Cassasses presented by Raquel Santanera, held in the auditorium at Antic Teatre (Verdaguer i Callís, 12). Following the activity, a toast will take place in the garden.
These activities are free and open to all.
Enric Cassasses (Barcelona, 1951) is one of the most well-known contemporary Catalan poets. A recipient of the Honour Prize for Catalan Literature (2020) among other awards, he has written thirty-four books of poetry and around twenty other books including novels, children’s book, essays and critical editions.
The Jaume Fuster Award is given to one of the members of the Association of Catalan Language Writers (AELC in its Spanish acronym) in recognition of their trajectory as a contemporary author. It is the only literary prize awarded by peers. The AELC members hold a two-round voting process: the first is open and, in the second, the winner is selected from a shortlist of the three writers who have received the most votes.
This activity is supported by CEDRO and the Institution of Catalan Literature, and has the collaboration of Antic Teatre.
