This investigation aims to inhabit the space between presence and absence, or what I call “the presence of absence”. How is it that what we lack occupies such a large place in our existence? How can a performing body present an absence?
These initial questions shape the backbone of the performance.
Luiz Felipe Lucas is a creator specialised in Jerzy Grotowski’s physical techinique. During the course of his career he worked with Marina Abramović on the Terra Comunal exhibition and with Teatro Oficina Uzyna Uzona, among other companies and directors. He is a founding member of two collectives: Legitima Defesa in Brazil and Tinta Negra in Barcelona. He is currently working on the development of his piece El Tiro, entitled No estamos ahí o La presencia de la ausencia. (We Are Not There or The Presence of Absence)
El Tiro premiered in Barcelona last June, at Periferia Cimarronas, and was shown from June to November in the MuseumsQuartier, Vienna.
