In play, a woman’s body that surprises, deforms, and reproduces itself incessantly. At the centre of a much larger stage, a Chinese pole, the backbone on which everything rests, supports and brings down a being on the edge of humanity, between its own limits and infinity. Faces hidden behind each other, a thousand personalities that are created and destroyed, loving and hating. Fragments of the self on stage that everyone can recognise.
Using circus as a tool that blurs the boundaries of everyday bodily movement, together with research into puppets, prosthetics, and masks, we explore the deformation and disintegration of the physical and the mental, tackling this with a scathing and ironic acting style.
La Víspera is a Spanish company founded in 2020 in Granada by Vinka Delgado, a visual artist and circus performer, and Diego Hernando, a professional sound, video, and lighting technician. Their work explores a unique blend of circus language, masks, prosthetics, and puppets. Their first two creations, La identitat de Vesania and Murmullo, have earned them widespread recognition nationally. With Fragments, winner of the European CircusNext platform in 2024, the company are broadening their horizons to continue developing their work and their deeply surreal, pictorial, and comical universe.
