The subject of women and the mothers of our mothers (that is, our grandmothers) is explored using dance, theatre, music and song. Bodies, sensuality and a few (and paltry) stage props: a comb (symbolising hairstyles, always elaborate) that is both the weapon and the enslavement of a generation (because you must get your head in order); a powder puff, which is an archetypal narrative device for masks; Rossana candy, so traditional they signify coertion; alcohol as transgression and the gilded cage.
Controlled chaos and a free narration by women who can’t wait to grow old.
Oltrenotte are a multidisciplinary company based in Cagliari (Sardinia), founded by dancer and choreographer Lupa Maimone who is artistic director, and technician Riccardo Serra. Oltrenotte emerged with the aim of creating a place for choreographic investigation from which to explore the poesy of dance/theatre, circus and live music, by creating live performance productions. Dance, theatrical invention, theatre of objects, acrobatics, live music: all of this is contained in the art of Oltrenotte. Their investigations give rise to the company’s original poetics, a choreographic means of expression transmitted through live theatre.
