#TSUNAMI

This is the moment before the catastrophe, when the sea waters retreat, discreetly, in silence. An allegory about the apparent calm that conceals the birth of something else. That hidden universe that exists among us and that stimulates our imaginations to make us speculate on, fear or be fascinated by that which has yet to be revealed. This is TSUNAMI or something’s gonna happen tonight.

A performance creation project that looks into the ways fear modifies our perception of reality. Playing with visuals and sound, using stop-motion animation, subverting the genre of suspense, and introducing the absurd. Weaving through theatre, dance, film, performance, reality and fiction.

Carlota Grau Bagès is a graduate in Performance Arts (specialising in Direction and Dramaturgy) from Barcelona’s Institut del Teatre and holds a degree in Audiovisual Communications from URV/UdL. She has also studied Fine Arts and contemporary and urban dance in Barcelona.

She directed Lot 5/6 Pedra (Sala Trono,Tarragona, 2023), TSUNAMI or something’s gonna happen tonight (Festival TNT, 2022) and Ahir with Animal Religion (National Theatre of Catalonia, 2020). She has collaborated as dramaturg, assistant director and performer with a number of companies such as Agrupación Señor Serrano, Colectivo Bigbouncers, Animal Religion, Elena Lalucat, Ursa  Sekirnik, Jo Serra, Raquel Cors, AzkonaToloza, Ferran Dordal and La Ruta 40, among others.
