If you were unable to attend the first edition of STOP MOTION BARCELONA – Short Film Festival, on Monday, April 17 you have another chance to see the official selection of short films from the first festival dedicated exclusively to stop motion animation in Spain.

STOP MOTION BARCELONA

STOP MOTION BARCELONA – Short Film Festival emerged from the desire to bring to the attention of new generations and the general public this classic animation technique, increasingly in vogue these days thanks to studios such as LAIKA or AARDMAN.
As this is also the first and only festival in Spain devoted exclusively to this technique, STOP MOTION BARCELONA aims to become a focal point for national talent as well as a meeting place for fans and professionals from around the world. To achieve this, the official shortlist of entries and the screening of short films in schools will be accompanied by discussions, retrospectives and exhibitions of work by renowned international stop-motion artists, as well as workshops for our younger audiences.
Preparations for the second edition of this festival are already underway. This will be held from the 29th of June to the 1st of July at Can Felipa Civic Centre.

LA ACADEMIA DE ANIMACIÓN (The Animation Academy)

Directed by Lula Gómez and Jordi Piulachs, La Academia de Animación is a school specialising in stop-motion animation. Originating in Buenos Aires, Argentina, it was well-received and grew rapidly. A year and a half later it was moved to Barcelona, Spain, where it continues to offer its courses.
Focusing mainly on the practialities of the technique, the school offers intensive and personalised courses with a maximum of six students per class that cover all the various processes required for the creation of stop-motion animation (character design, puppet-making, script, creativity, foundation skills and practice of animation, etc.)
La Academia de Animación already boasts more than six short films created by its students that have received awards or been shortlisted in festivals around the world.
