Rojo Pandereta (Psicoballet) is a piece that can be seen as the off-stage/backstage/spectre of/precursor to Rojo Pandereta (El Ballet).

The work centres around a ballet barre and shows the training processes, the tricks and incorporation methods, the associations, dreams and traumas that arise when you get your body dancing in a way you’re not entirely comfortable with, but that you’ve been doing and has formed you all your life: ballet.

Rojo Pandereta (Psicoballet) is broadly humourous: the vulnerability of dancers who dare to show themselves doing something at which they are neither brilliant nor expert, and for which they’ll never be selected or perceived as good enough.

Rojo Pandereta is a contemporary dance collective consisting of dancers and creators Oihana Altube and Javier Vaquero. Rojo Pandereta emerged in 2017 in Madrid, even though it has strong links to Catalonia and the Basque Country, where Javier and Oihana have lived and worked assiduously. In 2018 they began to work, thanks to various forms of support, on what  was to be their first performance piece, Rojo Pandereta (El Ballet) from which their collective takes its name. Their keen interest in expanded and intersectional processes has led them to generate various ideas for mediation, net dissemination, fanzines and group dance practice.
