What are my strategies for feeling alive and satisfied? Is everything alright? That’s what it’s about, isn’t it? About everything being alright. About us all being alright. Always. How, then, do we reconcile the need for control, or disasters? How to feel safe and at the same time open to uncertainty? How to prepare for the worst and live a peaceful life at the same time?

It’s all so unpredictable that there’s no room for theories. And I get the feeling that life becomes “every man for himself!”

Human clumsiness exposed in the useless attempt to control our own lives. The search for meaning. Opening up to mystery is too vague. What if… what if… We need a context. Limitations. Walls that can help us contain the pain of uncertainty. It’s about not suffering. About it not hurting. About not showing too much. About dissembling. About surviving. It’s about having a full fridge and money stowed away for a rainy day. Luckily there’s always someone who suffers more than we do. That consoles us. And meanwhile we pretend we’re living. We pretend we’re not suffering. We pretend everything is alright. As absurd as it is human.

“Ay ay ay” is about vulnerability, about the stratagems we use to protect ourselves. It’s about the fear of living.

Olga Onrubia (Barcelona, 1977). Graduated in 2006 from the Institut del Teatre of Terrassa. During the last year, she came into contact with director and creator Oskar Gómez Mata, becoming completely enthralled by his work. From then on, her interest in contemporary creation grew.

In 2008 she began working with Oskar Gómez Mata in his company L’Alakran, based in Geneva, Switzerland. She took part in: Kairos, sísifos y zombies (2008-2015) and Estoy en misa, vuelvo enseguida (2010-2013). They toured for several years through Spain, Portugal, France, Italy and South America, performing at international festivals such as Avignon (France), Festival IETM – Zurich (Switzerland), and Centre Pompidou/Beaubourg – Paris (France).

Her work with Alakran has defined her idea of theatre as live, present and provocative art. In 2016 she began working with LaScam company of Lausanne, with whom she continues to work and has taken part in the shows Il le faut, je le veux (February 2017) and Zang Boum Tuut (November 2018).

In February 2018 she began her first solo project, “Ay ay ay. She presented an initial stage of the piece at TacTacTac festival in Lausanne in April 2018 and at the Festival de la Cité de Lausanne in July the same year.
