An idea by Vicente Arlandis

With the collaboration of Nacho Messeguer, Paula Miralles, Rosana Sánchez and Aris Spentsas. This work is part of Malestar y Trabajo, a research project conceived by Taller Placer. Through different activities and practices we try to discover the role of work in our lives and look at new ways of relating to time. This performance was created after listening and talking to Mariví Martí, Miguel Oyarzun, Eva Fernández, Aurora Sales, Raúl de Arriba, Paula Miralles and Miguel Ángel Martínez.

With the collaboration of Centro Cultural Conde Duque, CulturArts and Ayuntamiento de Valencia

The endless struggle to make a living is a performance in which I try to work as much (or as little) as I think is fair and reasonable. I’ll tell you what I think about discipline, the work of a dancer and the theft of our time. I will tell you how it feels to perform the same action repeatedly in a factory for eight hours a day and what happens to your body after dancing the same show for five years. And at the end, I’ll tell you some jokes.  Here’s one as a taster.

We would all be happier if we worked as what we like. In my case it’s very hard to find a job as spaghetti bolognese.

I work as a performer, researcher and teacher in the field of performing arts. Currently I’m part of TALLER PLACER, a group dedicated to cultural production. My main goal is to provide myself with the means to stop working as soon as possible.
