HACER HISTORIA(S) VOL 3

Devised, created and performed by: Azahara Ubera

Dramaturgy in collaboration with: Lisa Vereertbrugghen

This research has been made possible thanks to a research grant from P.A.R.T.S School for contemporary dance (Brussels). I began the archive of performative gestures as part of the Les Borders project, within the creep-queer research group on critical practice Somatecx. This collective was initiated by philosopher Paul B. Preciado in 2013 at the Reina Sofía National Art Museum (Madrid).

#zinneke

Zinneke is a performative conference.
Zinneke means Bastard.
It’s an archive of gestures, poems and silenced voices.
In this piece I become my Mother, working with otherness in order to relate some of the stories and the silenced bodies.
So, Zinneke is also having a coffee with my Mother in her kitchen.
It’s being there in the warmth of the south, its fissures and its open spaces.
Zinneke is dancing with 70-year-old knees.
It’s moving to heal the wound, the story, her story.
Zinneke is my Mother making a noise.

Azahara Ubera inhabits different creation and learning spaces in contemporary art and choreography, activating new pedagogies and interwoven in transfeminist movements, working within institutions and outside them. A member of several different collectives including Somatecx, a creep-queer research group on critical practice initiated by Paul B. Preciado (Madrid, 2013), and Corales, in which she co-ordinates and designs action and thought labs, group choreography and creation of collective awareness in the collaborative processes of performing arts with a mixed group (dancers, artists, activists, anthropologists, etc.)
