NØVAK at Antic Teatre
As of January Nøvak, the Barcelona-based record label whose motto is “a certain darkness” will take over the black box – that is, the Antic Teatre – one Tuesday each month to programme independent music that is not indie, electronica music that can’t be danced to, and experimental music that isn’t boring for an audience that will remain seated, because this is a theatre, after all.
Bands that have been relegated to the underground of the underground; bands that have released work; bands that are only interested in creating music; bands that sing in English and bands that only play instrumentals. The idea is to bring into a theatre – not the usual location for music events – concerts that don’t have much chance of being heard on the regular circuits, and at the same time open up the Antic Teatre to a novel experience: providing experimental musical projects with a place to show their new work.
For the time being we can only advance the names of the first and last performances of the semester, in January and June; the remainder are yet to be confirmed (although the ingredients have been chosen, we still need to establish the order).
January 24 will feature Juche and Dead Normal, two different perspectives on what could be termed industrial music. And on June 27 it will be Malevich Line and Somewhere in the Future, two duets from Rubí that are somewhere between the trip-hop of the former and the techno-pop of the latter. In between these two dates we are hoping to see the likes of MANDIVULA, Por Qué Jeanette, TECIB, Pola Tog, Delusions and Loppkio.
